Good Friday Tenebrae Service

On Good Friday, we gathered in solemn reflection for our annual Tenebrae Service, a moving time of Scripture, song, silence, and candlelight. The word Tenebrae means “darkness,” and the service follows Jesus’ final hours by gradually extinguishing candles—reminding us of the weight of His sacrifice on the cross.

Through seven Scripture reflections known as “shadows,” we walked with Christ from the Upper Room to the tomb. Each reading was followed by quiet reflection and music, drawing us into the depth of God’s love displayed through the cross. As the light faded, we were left in silence—waiting with hope for Resurrection Sunday.

This powerful experience prepares our hearts to fully celebrate the victory of Resurrection Sunday (a.k.a. Easter).
